For an example of why it sometimes makes sense to charter
an aircraft, take a look at this recent charter flight. Two Network Engineers must travel around the North Island visiting
branches to upgrade software. The upgrade takes about 30 minutes to
complete with an average travelling time from the airport to the local
branch and back to the airport of about 30 minutes.
The trip takes them from Auckland - New Plymouth - Palmerston North -
Napier - Tauranga - Hamilton, and back to Auckland

This example does not take into account and problems with check-in,
missed connecting flights, or flight delays - problems that don't occur
(with the exception of weather) with air charter.
As you can see from the above example it would save over $1500 to
charter a Partenavia from Great Barrier Airlines, your staff would only be
away for 1 day, so there are no overnight costs, they would only be away
from home for 11 hours, and if the need came up to send more staff, up to
4 could travel for the same charter cost.
